Walmart Adds API Reports for Pricing and Incentive Reviews

Seven recommendation reports flag pricing issues and inventory opportunities. Three separate incentive reports help sellers check eligibility, enrollment and opt-outs.

Walmart announced seven downloadable Pricing Insights reports and three incentive reports on October 28. The files give sellers and integration providers separate ways to review pricing recommendations and check incentive eligibility, enrollment or opt-outs.

The recommendation reports are personalized to a seller’s catalog. Walmart’s pricing-report guide limits them to the U.S. marketplace, with relevance dependent on qualifying items.

Use the reports to select SKUs for review, then check the economics yourself. A pricing recommendation does not establish that a reduction will preserve your margin.

Choose the report that matches the problem

The seven reports address distinct pricing questions:

  • Pricing Issues identifies prices that may affect an item’s visibility or publication.
  • Stale Inventory highlights older stock for a pricing or clearance review.
  • Improve BuyBox Wins covers small price gaps and recent Buy Box losses.
  • Improve PCS addresses the price competitiveness score against comparable external offers.
  • Repricer Opportunities identifies items to consider for automated pricing.
  • Update Repricer Min Price flags minimum-price settings that may limit competitiveness.
  • Reduced Referral Fee Opportunities identifies potential pricing incentives.

Walmart lists Buy Box win rate, price gap, inventory and traffic among the Buy Box report fields. The stale-inventory report includes an aged-inventory field for stock older than 12 months and the last sale date. The referral-fee report includes current and reduced fees, seller payout and expiry.

A private-label seller can use those details to distinguish a price problem from a product that is not worth discounting further. Review the affected SKU and its costs before lowering a repricer floor or applying a catalog-wide reduction.

Check incentive enrollment separately

The three incentive reports cover Walmart-funded incentive opt-outs, Reduced Referral Fee eligibility and enrollment, and price-incentive eligibility and enrollment more broadly.

Compare the relevant enrollment record and incentive terms before including a fee reduction in your margin calculation. Requesting a report does not change an item’s price or enroll it. Walmart documents enrollment as a separate operation.

Ask your integration provider for the right export

The API process is asynchronous: request a report, retain its request ID, check the generation status and download it when the status is READY. The seven recommendation reports use reportVersion=v1. Walmart documents both on-demand and scheduled retrieval for the three incentive reports.

Ask your software provider whether it supports the specific report you need. Walmart’s documentation does not establish that a provider has implemented it. Compare the returned SKUs with your own product-cost and inventory records before approving changes.
